Accessories for a Beautiful Bride!

Merideth, Oleg, and I had a day of fun with a bride who was more than happy to let us play with her hair, wrap her in shawls and position her in ways that might not have been so comfortable. Not once would you hear a complaint from any of us though. We all loved what we were their for.

Merideth and Oleg are true artists and I am constantly amazed by what they create with light, and a lense etc. The bride seemed to be wracked with joy over her marriage and I (although admittedly confused) was in heaven while I fiddled with the bride adorning her with small creations that I had made that might fit with her gown.

I must say my favorite for her was the white satin hand made flower and feather headband that she seemed to love too. Maybe that is was makes each piece though. Just as much love as I pour into my things, the items are made when someone puts them on and they are comfortable. Sometimes things that thing that one person doesnt feel is appealing ends up being this missing piece for someone else. They place it on there head and everything begins to glow.

Blackberry Farm Feature

For the past 4 months I have been knitting daily. Lets just start with that and go on to say that I do this until joints hurt and I cant get the smell of lanolin from my skin.

I have formed an amazing relationship, Dare I say Friendship with Blackberry Farm here in Walland, Tennessee. More specifically the Resort has allowed me the privilege of having items that I have hand knitted sold by them. There is something special about every piece made... every item is knitted using wool from the sheep on property. 100% local wool.

Each little girl is unique, Their personalities overflowing with things that make them wonderful and all Them.

I cant say where inspiration came from for these gowns except for the beautiful pride, her great sense of style, and descriptions of each of their personalities. We worked together to make things that were whimsical, elegant, simple yet intricate, fun and fashionable.

I feel ike we did more than succeed. It was a wonderful experience. Every time that I work with a bride I am more involved than with anything else that I do. IT is a special day and I am allways touched that they would trust me to come and influence the day with pieces that must be asthetically pleasing and functional.

I dont have to do the "Off to work we Go" bit...I get to stay at home with my daughter and create to my hearts desire. Yet somehow, ... It doesnt allways work out like you would thing that it should. Spending more than two minutes from her leaves me guilty and with heart ache that I am not as involved as I could be.
So ... I have to create times to make sure that I am focused on her and her alone. ! I may go to bed tossing and turning with all of the things that I couldnt finish in that day but I doubt that I will ever regret Sitting down and playing grocery store or Swimming out back, Picking our veggies or Reading a golden book.

Sling Awareness & Safety

We have all been hearing about the concerns about slings and whether they are safe for baby carrying. Should you continue to use your sling? Is it safe? What is recommended? After much research and keeping up with the current news we have brought together some information that should ease your mind about slings and if you need to stop the use of the sling you have.

Just this past week Infantino announced recalls on more than 1 million baby slings.

In the first few months of life, children lack the strength to turn their head if their nose and mouth become covered by the sling or pressed against the carrier. Moreover, children’s airflow could be restricted if they are put in the sling in such a position that their chin rests on their chest. These problems could be present in slings not currently involved in the recall. CPSC insists that all slings do not pose the same hazards as the recalled models.

“There are safe ways to use slings,” says Patty Davis, a spokesperson with the CSPC. “They’ve been used safely for centuries.”

The Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association, which is currently working with ASTM to develop a set of safety standards for infant slings, offers these tips to parents:

Make sure the baby’s face is visible at all times.

The baby’s head should not be covered by any fabric.

Parents and caregivers should be able to look at the baby’s entire face when they are using the sling.

Be sure that the baby is not hunched with chin touching chest.

The baby’s face should not be pressed tight against wearer.

The two Infantino slings are dangerous because they are “deep pocket slings where there’s no way for the baby’s face to be clear of fabric in pouch,” says Ms. Davis.

We all love to make our little ones comfortable and choose a sling as our carrier of choice due to the closeness it has and the comfort for the baby. As long as you take the special steps noted above and a motherly touch choosing a sling will be a great experience for both mother and baby. Recently I have come into a bartering relationship (lol that sounds a little funny) with A girl who creates things that sound like she picked every lavender Bloom to be placed into her Creams & Body Butters.

Appalachian Mud Organics has Products made completely in a Vegan Fashion (No animal Products whatsoever) !!!

I personally am not vegan with my appetite (my chef husband has created a need for the fattiest of animal dishes SO SORRY)!! but after reading the very detailed listing of ingredients and even how they effect my pores and follicles , I Can not wait to - as she says... " Slather it all over"

Gingerly Dressed

The Greatest Coffee And ChatFEST . With girl that I really learned a lot from and really felt kin to at some times. !! I hope they dont mind that I say so. !! lol maybe there kin is far cooler than I or worse they hate family lol.

Whatever.

Coffee was Supplied and I took advantage in a great way.

A beautiful Cake was made especially for the get together. Snacks & goodies were their, door prizes were won, Ginger was extremely supportive in my time of need (I became shy and worriesome to a fault). REallyEVERYTHINg was thought of

Even Live music arrived at 1 o'clock!

After feedback was taken with my hands over my face waiting for the blows ... I liked what I heard. Criticism was given with the best heart and the good comments didnt hurt my ego either.

So my things are more different than even knew. That just shows how little I really get out to compare and find inspiration. I loved the talent that witnessed yesterday though and although I would love to keep the ME in my clothing and accessories I could learn a lot from these women.

Amazing also... We were all mothers. This is a great creative outlet, a way to stay home with the kids if it stays small and personal enough, and talk about the networking. Sooo nice to meet like minds.

I am psyched to be bartering with the Creator of Petals Handbags too. Come to me Beautiful Diaper bag that I was pretty much drooling over. You must go and see. She has info on her website @ http://www.petalshandbags.com/ . Her and I are rowing our behinds off in the same boat as far as materials go. I mean the start up to buy wholesale fabric will break you so small quantities pretty much we work with. I love reworking allready used items though so you have a great chance of having what you want done with a fabric she has used before but chances are you will have a couture bag made from a no longer available pattern!!! Couture change purses are the new thing. Just a tiny thing that gets pulled out every time you must pay... but beautiful.

Anyway Dears. I am so glad I made the leap and now have learned more than I thought I would making the fact that the weather kept most shoppers indoors and I had a lacking display due to zero experience STILL WAY WORTH the trip to the awesome shop Gingerly Dressed (which is 1 mile from my home) lol. Ill be back there is so much more to write about that day and I am trying my hardest to start a drawing for some cool Items Boy and GIRL

Tutorials Videos I want to be able to give also. So that is what is to come I Pray but not now because I really have to clean this house. lol.

Saint Valentines DAy is drawing Near.

Through healthy relationships and what might not have even qualified as relationships ... it seems what I can remember and all that stood significant was the cookie I received from someone in highschool. The ones you purchase with a note on them from a booth at school. haha.

Seems it just never struck me to really get into the holiday.

Funny because I cant remember a Valentine's Day when my Mom didnt give Ethan, Katy and Me a card and a small gift of heart scattered underwear or pajamas. It always meant so much so why didnt I embrace giving on that day. I just forget about it.

That would be my new years resolution. If it is healthy to make resolutions and not just aspire to live a healthier lifestyle all around. Anyway... it would be to lower my level of Narsicism.

Thinking I deserve to receive and Simply FORGETting!! to Give. It is unintentional .

More than that ... thinking that I can change everything that is wrong with my situation. (not that there is much wrong) I have an amazing DAughter, my husband and I are learning not to each always play the devils advocate , and such problems that all couples face. But I mean .... feeling such deep guilt when things dont go the way they should.

A recent hospitalization even induced a guilt coma. There was Nothing I did to cause the issue and Nothing I could have done to prevent it. But the fact that my body did it, leaves me questioning my ability. Then that snowballs and I feel Guilty about not taking Olivia my daughter out to play. But it has been raining for weeks now, I am just off of bedrest. I must accept there is NOthing I can do but ride what I am going through out and have faith that Only things that I can handle are presented to me and that there will be amazing days in the future.

So ... I am IN love this VAlentines DAy, ... with Learning to Love everyone Else Even though I felt like I was all ready a loving person ... I am a jerk for thinking I have as much control as I would love to have.

NOTE::: what I CAN DO asap and I am now going to look into.

for me ... Going to church on Sundays. Olivia is about to be 1.5 years old . Young yes but never better to get her into a class for socialization purposes and then on gymnastics @ 2 or so. I now pray that the getting up and driving to Church on Sundays becomes a habit. Whereas I persecuted others for Sunday mass being Just a HAbit, I am praying for the habit. Even if hauling your butt there in a routine induced coma is how we must arrive ... the message is still received.

Goodness Long Rambling when all I meant to say was. NOW Valentines day Has done something to me. I dont usually fall into holiday traps. (even green beer) but ... Dude I made an adorable Tshirt all themed out and stuff. lol.

No Rhyme or Reason

Sometime I look at what I have created and I think ... "Where on earth did that come from"

Not the design. Each one has a thought, feeling, or memory but the pattern that I have has NO PATTERN

Even when I write Im one of those (like there are more like me) whose handwriting changes every line.

I believe now a days they call it ADD because of what seems like a lak of focus but with a 17 month old daughter I find little time to fit in what I feel i should be able to. I want to do more than anyone is capable of. Layers are what we are and I am possibly attempting to peel away every one of those laters to expose everything that I would like to express.

Ask my husband about our discussions. They soon blow up into a knock down drag out after they begin with the best of intentions.

Likewise with what I like to call a line.

A few POINTs ABOUT MY "LINE"

* It is rarely in line with the season. A light peice may follow a heavy coat. Then scarf will pop out of nowhere

* I go through color fazes. Mustard and greys will make me smile then ...come the bright colors

* Accessories will consume me but in my world sometimes that means another peice or multiple peices will have to be created out of inspiration

* I usually dont theme create but Seasons and Holidays I do fall victim to ...

*Nostalgia will lead me .... so some things will be so whimsical your head will have to wrap around it.

Point is I wonder will i ever sit down and follow the rules So that success will seem attainable.

Will i design a set amount of peices for the season to come , I have no problem with trend forcasting and I adore it actually) will i then draw these peices out with specifications, find fabrics, create garment and pattern and then market. Maybe not while I am where I am in life but I would love to hope eventually

Anyway HERE IS WHERE MY hands have lead the machine as of late

After seeing an amazing client's BEAUTIFUL daughter in her Nastershum suit ordered from me from Etsy how could I not want to provide more and take it further.

I pray "COMe ooon inspiration"
and ... it came in an email from a customer who ordered months and months ago

who thought of her daughter wearing her Nastershum Swimsuit on HER VERY 1ST bday !!! and sent photos. I would definately say that she has the potential to be the winner of the Cutest Baby Contest that is now running so once again GREat representation of my work.

She purchased the "Audrey's Birdthay Suit"

AS per her request it was custom created in Hot Coral/Pink with Teal and White accenting blossoms.

Dont I sound Confident. ?! Not so much really. Nervous and Hopeful is where I stand at the moment.

So frustrating for the photos in my head to become tangible and more than that functional.

Every string that hangs loose on a new garment represents the quality of my work. Ahhhh!!!! I would love for everything to be perfect but it seems that it will never be so because I am my own worst critic.

The latest post on her blog reveals these beautiful little girls making my clothing look so charming. Cowl Necks, Headbands, Skirts, Halter Tops and other items are displayed so proudly by the families that she offers my Clothing to.

I will gladly do my best to recreate or create custom Items.
It just does me and my heart good to see that these little girls look great and there age!!

From me to you with all honesty... The one thing I prayed about and cried over for the first 3 months of my daughters life whenever I stared at her is that she LOVE herself.
As adults they will be GREAT people if they feel amazing in their skin and I can cover them in clothing that will free there minds to be young (AS they are CHILDREn) and confident in there style.

She did me the honor OF hiring me to Create her Veil/HeadPeice
YES I barter and we both took advantage of each other in the best way possible.
I loved creating her vision for her and she tried to keep this new mother and wife groomed.
Having her by my side while living this existence in Maryville TN was tremendous.
(ive made a point to use words other than awesome so excuse the vocab)
She Is Creative & dont let her tell you otherwise. The peices that came to fruition came from ourconversation as well as from my hands.

Something Different Between ! 1 ! Infamous Katy Lee Jones and I. We have something in Common.

For the uninformed... Katy Lee Is my Sister. Looking at us you would be stunned that we are biological sisters But if you were to have a conversation with us you would probably find some crazy similarities. Aside from the fact that the dialogue between you and I would have significantly less witty humor, and I am close to terrified of drug references ... We are nearly the same.

Point is that WE will deny to the grave that are brains obviously trace the same neurological pathways to get to our point (and we will argue our point until we die) along the way using metaphors and inflections that could rival fraternal twins. Her Voice it deeper than mine, which I envy.

Wouldn't it just be terrific if we could sit down and have a conversation where she wasn't thinking that I was a bore and I wasn't thinking that she is insane.
Doesn't it sound plausible that we would be extatic to be with each other?
Couldn't we appreciate each other and not wish we each have what the other had long enough to realize that if we did so WE COULD RULE ALL OF MAN KIND?

So many questions that if solved would rock the world.
Im sure that we have the same dilemma as 90% of sisters
But NO we are extreme. Each of our friends see it and say so. We have just stuck to what makes us who we are and amplified it so that WE ARE BETTER THAN EACH OTHER LOL
So that MAjority of our life changing decisions have mounted to astronomically horrid events because of Sibling rivalry. lol

NEXT POINt She has started a blog that shows just how smart she is. She makes me want to pee myself laughing at one point and the next helps me see things in a way that usually could be called a revelation or epiphany if you choose.

I almost hate writing on here. I dont really have anything great to say. I have only recently learned to do what I like. Okay so Im at the same point as an 11 year old in that way.

So I pray to God REALLY... That I am not the only seamstress, designer, artist what have you that does not mend her own clothing. I have a hole the size of Heck in my Sleeve all the way up my forearm.

Baring... that tatoo that is on the same on arm so GREAT!! it looks like I tried and failed at creating something just to show off Ink running down my arm. lol.

I seriously (Promise) say this all while chuckling. Im definately Not a negative person and even when speaking of Surgery I recently had to remove a part of me that could have become cancerous I laughed. Maybe it is my defense. It does seem to ward off tears, But I really can say with a clear conscience that I am positive about everything in life even as critical as I am of myself. I simply know what I lack. Or I thought I did until Ive recently gotten so much praise from teams of others Artists and Friends whom Opinions I respect greatly.

Anyway. Point is /today while running around Maryville to locate some great things At habitat and the craft store I found out that not only would I seem to be the farthest thing from a clothing designer but I resembles something closer to the bums that I ogled at while in San Fransisco a few years ago.

Another point I will make is that this blog is another and not the last that is being written while on an empty stomach at dinner time and coffee to keep me running. Not healthy I KNOW uhh but I have a full plate that has not one scrap of food on it. Mainly scraps of material, sequins and feathers. Maybe Ill go make some Ravioli or Oooh Ramen ( I save the veggies for dinner with Dustin and I or for Olivia. They get the good stuff. Im young my figure isnt doing anything crazy if I feed it junk just yet so Ill fuel it with what I can until I notice that I am sagging. Okay coffee tude needs to be applied to the Garment Making part of my life.

Ill Announce my love for the friend and family in my life like I cant Do enough and say Goodbye.

FALL Photo Shoot

MHM Photography ( www.mhmphotography.net ) and I shot an incredible photo session yesterday. Merideth and her husband Oleg were a super impressive team. The cold cut through the poor kids, but they were amazing. Even Little Olivia wanted to be down the entire time. She seems to think she can run with the pack even if she can barely walk! lol

We hung around Downtown Knoxville like it was our job!! I guess it was yesterday?! I cant believe that I have all of this at my feet. I better not screw this up huh? lol I am stil learning etiquette; how much I can style during shoots etc. And... Olivia as great as she is is still a 14 month old. I will get this down though. I truly love love love what I am doing. Thank you from the bottom of my heart Merideth, Robin, Angie, Misty for yesterday. Thank you for believing in me enough to devote a day to my clothing.
Maybe I thought that eventually a day like yesterday would present itself but not so soon and with such enthusiasm from everyone. Including the Kids :) Boys and Girls all loved the clothing enough to get psyched up every time I made them change clothes in the back of the van. lol With the heat blasting and everyone waiting for the Stephanie with no coffee to make a decision, they smiled and gave support the entire time.

I saw so many blisters on there feet from the walking in the cold, but THe girls rocked it out and the boys went that extra mile and climbed till Im sure they were tired to get that perfect shot for Merideth. HOW BLESSED AM I ?!

I had the time of my life.
And it is pushing me harder than I have been pushed since I dont know when but It is worth every second that the house is in shambles and I have to leave fabric draped everywhere in my home. BEcause I make no time to clean at the moment but I carry OLi everywhere and we play with art and enjoy or lives through the CHAOS . Merideth sympithized with me! lol Artists, whether chef, painter, photographer, or designer all leave some area of our lives upturned. But such great advice from MErideth ... speaking of the photo shoot she said ... Even though it looks like it is crazy and unnorganized and isnt going to turn out all right, you watch everything will look amazing. Perspective is everything. She is so right.
The photos look perfect so far. You cannot even tell we were all trying to tackle 100 things at once and I felt like I was failing half the time.

Cranberries is coming along and filling up.
I can not wait for the day that I can have a schedule OR go hang at a decorated space that satisfys me when I walk in rather than feel cold to me. I am so crazy and connected to this that I am not sure that I will ever be satisfied.

In The meantime I am anxiously awaiting what will surely be an exciting Photoshoot with Talented Merideth Matossian with MHM photography ( http://www.mhmphotography.net/ )in Knoxville TN. Her Kids are adorable and she is such fun to talk to.
I really had an entire conversation with her daughter who I pray will use her artistic ability one day. She must get it from her mama. She has such an eye. Anyway one of these days I will DRag Merideth and her family out to take a boatload of pics with all of the kids. Id even love to cloth the mothers. HOW FUN!!! Oh my gosh Im going to explode. LEt me go sew while I am all worked up. I do well like that. Lol

EILAND WEDDING

Soooo, A dear friend Amanda Alexander and Michael Eiland Wed This past Weekend.
There wedding was amazing. From the Beautiful bride to the Crazy Dancin we had a blast.
And, I hope the now married couple had fun through all of the Chaos. It was a huge day and they both played it gracefully. Well played Well played. lol.

I was honored to style a few great things for the wedding that I fell in love with as I do for nearly all of my creations.
Amandas Veil was for the me the undertaking that crept closest to my heart. She will have these photos in her home for WEll... Forever we pray. She was the focal point and pleasing her was my goal. Thank you Amanda for being psyched over everything that I do!

The flowers girls, I had not met before, but there personalities were described to me,and I wanted to get to know each girl before creating a custom gown for them. They were Stunning as well and the photos Done By Becca Eiland Amaze me. When given the permission I will totally be posting what I can, to not only show what I love to do for others but show how incredible Becca is. You can,t help but respect this woman. Down and Dirty in the most graceful of ways is how I would love to describe her if allowed. No offense meant at all. but I have never seen an artist do such a great job of sacrificing her black attire to the mud to get that Perfect shot of the Bride and Groom . I LOVE LOVE LOVE her.

HolY FIRST Day BATMAN!!!

So. I have begun to set up boutique/shop in my awesome room at Cranberry's. I am all just simmering in the generosity and wondering how I will ever repay these women. This morning I drug my wares, goods, junk and what have you in the salon and start to unload. I stood and stared not even know where to begin and then DUUUUUD E women nearly bought me out. I have so many orders and need to get to work.

Then I get my but to the store to restock on supplies and a sweet girl who puts up with my rediculous requests when I come in says that she would Luv Luv Luv to work for me at no cost two days a week. SHE was thinking of how I do it all in her free time. ????!!! Who thinks of me? So GOd years of thinking of others because I seem to be scrutinized so much more deeply than others. I am cared for. People want to take care of me

Now to make sure that I dont fall into the comfort of the routine. People giving does not mean that I will ever accept without compensating them in the best way that I can. I may not have money right now. But I will one day and I will not let myself forget the people who have FAITH in me. Whereas I felt a little week and kind of child like. I feel a capability beyond what mother hood even provided. I am WOMAN LOL haha Love yall and Come in to Cranberrys if youd like to look around and be treated like a queen. Cause if there is one thing I am its humble. Hit me while I still am before I get famous yalll lol j/k

I am so psyched!! Not so psyched that a friend is leaving me in this small town in East Tennessee, but that I have managed to make some amazing aquaintances that are going to allow me to open a spot in there local salon.
CRANBERRyS' girls you are AMAZING. Dude ... I might be coming to a town near you!!! Wow, so they are convinced that I deserve it and I definately wont argue with them. This new venture makes me busier than I have ever thought I could be. With our minds flooding with dreams of a restaurant opening in the near future, My clothing in my mind at all times, an amazing daughter, and being young driving us to just want to have fun with it all we are Overwhelmed... WITH JOY.
God I have so much to do I am just getting into the blogging game and wonder how successful people manage to put things into action AND sit down at the computer to write about it all. You really do have to do do do from morning until you drop at night! I LOVE IT
